In this time of Advent as we prepare ourselves for Christmas. Not just buying presents, selecting recipes and endless carol services, but really preparing ourselves to celebrate the origins of Christmas in celebrating the incarnation (God with us).
I give an invitation to you all to Journey with me towards the manger, in a 4 week Advent Bible exploration. Based on Paula Gooders excellent book ‘Journey to the manger’ we will reflect on Gospel passages detailing the origins, the announcement, the arrival and the aftermath of the Christmas narratives.
A few booklets will available from Northstead Church, or I will have some at Scalby, (please ring or text me on 07788 407726, if you would like one). Everyone is welcome, we aim to have open discussions as we journey and explore together. Rev Emma Morgan and Christine Sutherby.

There will be two outside Light up a Life trees, one here at the Hospice and one at Whitby Day Hospice. At each indoor service there will be a symbolic lighting of the Light up a Life tree and everyone will be given their own candle to light during the service. Which they can then take home and light again with friends and family during the Christmas period.
