Minister Revd Clare Stainsby
Situated just off the village main street, 3 miles from Scarborough, on the Whitby Road, we continue the Methodist witness in Scalby in a building opened in 1873. We meet for Sunday morning worship and on the Second Sunday of the month we have afternoon services offering varying styles of worship. A small group meets fortnightly on a Tuesday morning for Coffee & Prayers. We also hold monthly coffee mornings on the first Saturday of the month in aid of local charities. Our church is close to the village Anglican Church with whom we have a good relationship and shared concerns re community needs. We are building strong ties with the other Methodist Churches in our area with whom we share a Minister.
We aim to remain true to our Mission Statement both in church and community: “To share by worship and caring the love of Jesus Christ, the crucified and risen Lord”, and work as a dedicated fellowship to understand our future place in our community and circuit and ask for prayers for our Vision Day on for 25th April. If looking for a venue for a quiet day – why not consider Scalby? – a very pleasant building in a lovely village.
