FRIENDS OF PRICEHOLME
Priceholme is the Methodist Home for the Aged in Givendale Rd, Scarborough, where 32 Residents are cared for by a dedicated staff. There is also room for respite care.
The ‘Friends’ headed by an elected committee aim to befriend both residents and staff.
Funds are raised by membership subscriptions (minimum of £1 per annum) and special events. The money is used to provide many ‘extras’ which are needed in the Home in addition to the care already provided by Methodist Homes. For example in recent years we have been able to pay for an outside decking area, a large screen TV for the lounge, special bath with hoist, fish tanks to provide interest, and many other amenities. Every year we hold a New Year Party and a Summer Tea Party which are much enjoyed. The gifts for Christmas and Birthdays which each resident receives are enhanced by funding from the Friends group.
In order that the work may continue, it is important that new Friends are enlisted whenever possible. Forms are available if you would consider becoming a Friend from treasurer Beryl Pollard or Secretary Anthea Purdy (please use the contact form the request details)
MONTHLY TEA PARTIES
Several Churches in Scarborough provide tea and homemade cakes etc, once a month on Tuesday afternoons. This is done on a rota basis. The residents really enjoy these occasions, and the chance to chat with the church folk who come. We would be grateful if some of the churches in the new North Yorkshire Coast Circuit would like to join in. If you are able to commit to this scheme please inform Anthea Purdy(see above).
