As has already been announced, Revd Elizabeth Clark will be leaving the Circuit during August to take up a new appointment as National Rural Officer for the Methodist and United Reformed Churches.

From September 2014: – Revd Rosie Coles becomes probationary Presbyter with oversight of Queen Street and Cayton. Revd Peter Cross will become Rosie’s supervisor. The above changes will lead to a redistribution of pastoral responsibility for some churches:- – Revd Mark Haynes (Superintendent) will have responsibility for Filey and for Westborough, where there will also be some input from Revd Peter Cross.
Revd Denise Free will have responsibility for Burton Fleming, Hunmanby, Seamer, Ayton/Wolds Valley, Snainton and Sherburn

There will be further changes in September 2015 as Revd Mark Haynes and Revd Clare Stainsby move on:- The Circuit Invitations Committee has now recommended that the Circuit seeks the appointment of:
a Superintendent Minister, who will have pastoral responsibility for Burniston and Filey – a Presbyter, to have pastoral responsibility for Northstead, Wreyfield Drive and Scalby – a Deacon, to encourage and support the development of work in the community and with families in the Circuit, initially outside the Whitby area where Deacon Helen Webster is currently appointed. The Methodist Church stationing process for these appointments has begun and the Circuit Stewards are very grateful to all who have contributed thoughts to assist this process.
The proposal is that Revd Peter Cross will then take pastoral responsibility for South Cliff, Westborough and Staintondale/Ravenscar LEP from September 2015 The pastoral responsibilities of Revd Rosie Coles, Revd Denise Free and Revd John Pugh will be unchanged from those applying from September 2014.

In September 2016 four members of the current Circuit staff team complete their first 5 years of appointment and further consultation will need to take place next summer..

Your prayerful support for all those involved in this process is earnestly requested and a prayer card to assist this will be made available in the near future.

North Yorkshire Coast Methodist Circuit

Prayer Guide

We pray that God will continue to be recognized in all that the North Yorkshire Coast Circuit undertakes….and to God be the glory! –Stephen Burgess (September 2012)

Needed…. to start September 2015

Superintendent – circuit team leader with pastoral responsibility for Filey and Burniston

Presbyter – circuit team member with pastoral responsibility for Northstead, Wreyfield Drive, Scalby and input into the Barrowcliff project.

Deacon – circuit team member identifying community needs surrounding circuit churches; then supporting and enabling churches to meet those needs

September -Circuit meeting to final profiles submitted to Connexion.

Pray that requirements for each role have been heard, priorities identified, honesty and integrity maintained and each profile is enthused with the adventure of God’s Spirit.

God of understanding and hope, you know our human weaknesses to believe we know what is best for us. Listen to our dreams; listen to our hopes; listen to our willingness to be open to your will. Prepare the hearts and spirits of all who will be involved in this process- including ours – so that from the very beginning we may know your guidance, listen to your prompting and be prepared to accept Your will, not ours, in all things. Amen.

October – receiving and identifying suitable profiles and preparing for visits

Pray for those in the stationing process looking for an appointment that they have wisely identified their gifts and skills; pray for those tasked with identifying possible suitable matches when profiles are released, that they may discern the best individuals for this circuit.

God of wisdom and insight, you know your work for this circuit and its people. You know the persons best suited to each role. Be with all who seek that they may find – find the place where you wish to place them; find peace of mind in their decisions; find hope and encouragement through a stressful time for all involved; find support, love and encouragement to step out in faith into a new and exciting future. Amen

November – from Stationing Match to invitation.

Pray for the Stationing Matching Group – lay and ordained.

Pray for the presbyters and deacons and their families seeking a new appointment

Pray for all those involved in the circuit visits.

Pray for honesty, openness and God’s Spirit in the whole process.

There seems to be so many human hearts and minds in this whole process, Loving God, how will we know your will? Give wisdom to all to discern your way forward, courage to ask the difficult questions, honesty when answering questions and integrity to say yes or no without fear. May we encourage and support those who are appointed by us to make these decisions, so when they invite ministers they will do so with faith and confidence that Your will be done. Amen.
