Prayer Letter for August

As we come to the close of our second year in circuit together we continue to ‘Praise Him for all that is past and Trust Him for all that’s to come’. Please encourage prayer for :-
-all members of our Circuit Leadership Team and Circuit Invitations Committee as they seek guidance in planning for the future of the circuit.
-for Revd. Elizabeth Clark and husband Norman , as they leave our circuit team, as Elizabeth prepares to take up her post as Connexional Rural Officer for the Methodist & URC Churches
-for all Ministers moving to/preparing to take up new appointments and especially for Christine Sutherby as she seeks to secure funding for her presbyteral training due to commence in September at Queen’s in Birmingham. We ask prayers for all our circuit ministers and for all the churches facing change due to reorganisation of pastoral oversight within our Circuit Team Ministry, especially for Revd Mark Haynes and the folk of Filey and Westborough , for Revd Denise Free and the folk of Ayton with Wold’s Valley, Burton Fleming, Hunmanby, Seamer, Sherburn and Snainton, for Revd Rosie Coles and the folk of Queen St and Cayton, for Revd Peter Cross, completing his Sabbatical this month and preparing to return to the circuit with additional responsibilities both as supervisor of Probationer Presbyter Rosie Coles and with some input at Westborough and for the folk of Burniston, South Cliff and Staintondale and Ravenscar .
-For the developing community work in various parts of our circuit.
-Please pray for the Circuit Stewards’ Team for 2014-15 and for ‘stationing’ concerns. A prayer card which focuses on Stationing for 2015 is being prepared, please pray that it will be widely used so that all decisions made re new appointments will be grounded in prayer.
Our featured churches:- Wold’s Valley (Class of Ayton), and Wreyfield Drive.
Wold’s Valley Methodist Church – Minister with pastoral oversight Revd. Elizabeth Clark/Denise Free (from Sept 1st) Wolds Valley is a small chapel in Weaverthorpe serving our Circuit’s Wolds villages. We meet at 3pm in our very comfortably refurbished building.  Sadly, however, recently, our congregation has become depleted because a number of our members/adherents have become too infirm to attend. Therefore the next Plan shows a fortnightly pattern of worship in the hope that those who enjoy the informality and welcome on the Wolds will be able to support services on those days. Our Monday Coffee Morning (when the visiting Post Office is present) continues to be well supported by a friendly group who value the opportunity to meet up.  It would be good if the Circuit prayed for this outreach/sharing of God’s love. The Post Office also visits on Thursdays but this is less supported and has no coffee available, so prayer for this to continue as a village facility would be appreciated. Please pray, too, for members who are coming to terms with increasing infirmity.
Wreyfield Drive Church – Minister with pastoral oversight is Revd. Clare Stainsby.
Since the opening of our enlarged premises in September 2013, we have been amazed by the number of new groups we have attracted and the good wishes of all who have visited. For many years we have prayed that our building would be used more by the community and we now feel that our prayers have been answered, but we do not want to be complacent and will continue to pray for God’s guidance in the future. It was a joy to welcome the circuit to a day of fun and fellowship (reported in the Scarborough News) Several people were blessed by the week of guided prayer (an ecumenical project). Those who have used the facilities for a longer period of time – some from different areas, enjoy the comfort of their surroundings and we have more groups visiting this summer. A warm welcome awaits you at Wreyfield Drive.
